A new style of composite column(the column of concrete filled prefabricate tubular members)is studied in this thesis, it is manufactured by the following process: firstly, a hollow prefabricate-tubular is produced in the factory; and then in the building site , a hollow pipe is constructed by this prefabricate-tubular; at last, with concrete is poured into this pipe, a new column is formed, which has better integral capability, use less stuff and constructs conveniently. This column is so innovative that there is little study information on it, so, on the basis of experiment on this column compressed axially, this thesis describes a theoretical study on the crack-resistant capability, the ultimate strength and the ductility.Because of the influence of the construction, the prefabricate tubular members of this column will be under the biaxial stress condition of tension and compression, it will influence some characters of this column. According to the analysis of the stress state of the prefabricate tubular members with the biaxial strength criterion of concrete under axial pressure, the limit of once concrete-pour height in the hollow pipe is obtained, and a equation is presented for general calculation of the load , when this column is crazed. The experimental results are compared with calculating one, which may be a reference for engineering design and further study.According to the experimental data, this thesis focus on the influence of some kinds of factors on the capability of the column of concrete filled prefabricate tubular members compressed axially, such as the space between ties, section shape, concrete strength of the prefabricate tubular members and reinforcing steel bar. According to the experimental data by the authors and other resources, the formula of ultimate axial compressive strength of the column of concrete filled prefabricate tubular members is obtained, the experimental results are compared with calculating one.The capability of the column of concrete filled prefabricate tubular members compressed axially is study more by the FEA software of ANSYS, the analysis focus on the ties stress state when the column is in the ultimate load, and it proved that the study about the column in this thesis is rational.
