Crankshaft is the most important part of the I.C.E. Numerical simulation in crankshaft is a very significative research field. The paper analyzes the static property and dynamic characteristics of the crankshaft using the SL4105Z diesel engine of FUJIAN LIJIA Co. Ltd. Furthermore the improved design and compare of the different scheme of the crankshaft is carried through using the experimental optimal technology on test. Then the remarkable factors under the test target are gotten. All these provide science basis and feasible plans for the structure design of the crankshaft.Main contents and conclusions in the paper are as follow:(1) The 3-D model of the crankshaft is set up using the software Pro/E. Then the finite element model is set up through the software ANSYS. All these include chose and simplifications of the model, chose of the element, mesh of the gridding, chose of the calculation condition, and the establishment of boundary conditions, loads and the restrictions.(2) The correctness and feasibility of the FE model's boundary conditions are validated by analyzing the static property of the single-crank and the whole crankshaft. The contour of stress in the result is true compared with the fact. The safety coefficient of the crankshaft is calculated by the GOODMAN method and the traditional test method.(3) In the improved design of the crankshaft, the influences of the crank width, main journal diameter, crankpin diameter, discharge launder size on the crankshaft's intensity are discussed with the finite element analysis and the experimental optimal technology. The effective measures are concluded to improve the intensity.(4) It is analyzed that main journal diameter and the distance from top of the discharge launder to the crankshaft's central line influence upon the intensity remarkably through the optimal technology. Taking the max stress on the crankshaft's fillet into consideration the most optimal scheme and its believe range were gotten.(5) The natural frequency of the original crankshaft is calculated. The mode frequency and mode shape in the result are close to the test results. The dynamic characteristics of the optimized crankshaft are analyzed in the same way. Also the dynamic characteristics of them are compared.
