In order to speed up the watercraft , lower its noise and achieve the linear propulsion,the jet propulsion model for watercraft was designed on the base of analyzing the traditional thruster and referring the spatial electrical propulsion and jet propulsion. The water vapor was used as the propelling agent. The structural prototype heated by the plasma arc was designed in terms of the plasma arc technology , the jet bounce-back principle ,the dynamical characteristics of the water vapor and the high-speed Laval nozzle theory .The structural parameters of the reaction cell such as its capacity and the size of the electrode were confirmed . The parameters of the Laval nozzle included the throat diameter and the outlet diameter were calculated. The characteristic of propulsion, temperature of water vapor, speed of ship model and discharge of the reaction cell of the jet propulsion model were analyzed in theory on the base of combining the dynamics, the energetics and the high voltage technology .The experiment system included the measure system, the water supply system and the control system . The high pressure water pump was used to provide water for the reaction cell. The flux rate of water supplied the reaction cell and the velocity of the propulsion model could be adjusted by tuning the overflow valve and the throttle valve in the control system. The parameters of the dynamical characteristics were achieved by using the velocity-measuring system and the thrust-measuring system which comprised of photoelectric sensor, relay and intelligent double digital display instrument typed HB72 .The experiment verification of dynamical characteristics and the project of structural prototype were tested by the experiment system. The stability of the AC plasma arc was analyzed on the base of the experiment phenomena in theory . The erection of models investigated in the experiment established the principle and experiment foundations for the application of jet linear propulsion on navigation domain.
