The visualization of three-dimensional road and terrain surface can combine the design materials of road and terrain together, as can produce the road and terrain 3D scene. This can help to improve road design quality. This paper studies some technologies, such as setting up the road and terrain integrated model, integrated model data compress, road 3D scene and space attribute data inquires, etc. To summarize the research work of this paper, the main results are listed as follows:1) This paper adopts incremental insertion algorithms to set up the integrated road model on the basis of highway digital terrain modal (HDTM) by using constrained Delaunay triangulation theory. The algorithm is steadiness and fast.2) Uses multi-band wavelet theory to compress the grid DEM data. This can offer a view-dependent simplification model for the visualization of 3D road and terrain surface.3) The paper introduces the principle of 3D observing and technologies of drawing reality sense figure in detail, and realizes the real-time 3D visualization of road and terrain surface based on OpenGL technology. According to the principle of 3D observing, the paper also realizes how to roam about in real-time in the visualization of 3D road and terrain surface. Yet the paper uses multi-band wavelet theory to compress the grid DEM data without influencing visual effect.4) Establishes the foundation of the real-time space inquiring by study some key technologies of inquiring in 3D scene. On the basis of the selection target technology of OpenGL, this paper adopts ODBC technology to connect with attribute database. The paper realizes the dynamic inquiry of the attribute information of surface feature in the 3D scene of road and terrain.
