The stability of the high and steep cutting slope is the important condition to guarantee that the roadbed completes of its function, It is also main contents of the roadbed design. Construct the high grade highway in the mountain area, we can't avoid meeting many high and steep cutting slope. The Failure of the high cutting slope causes to cost a great deal of manpower and financial powers to settle in the constructing and maintain period, In the service period, It will block the traffic seriously, result in huge loss for economies of nation and people, and break the environment and the ecosystem balances at the same time. This thesis investigated the failure phenomenon and reason of high and steep cutting slope on the building and completed highways in mountain area, analyze the main reason of the high and steep cutting slope failure, sum up the high and steep cutting slope deformation and failure type, and analyze the affects factors. In order to research the deformation and failure mechanism, we adopting the indoor model experiment,the numerical simulation method to analyzes. The bottom friction model experiment can re-appear the deformation and failure of the whole history process, and it also preview its method and conditions of instability and failure, from whole up know the regulation of deformation and failure transforms development. Adopt the RFPA2D numerical simulation method can according to the cutting slope typical rock structure characteristic and the failure mode, from the rock body structure, geography circumstance, the groundwater seep, the slope comparison structure etc. simulate and analyze the general regulation of the slope deformation and failure mechanism. In the end, through the model experiment and FLAC numerical simulation analysis to the entity engineering (Gao Gong Tian slope), verify its slope mechanism, and also provide the right leading for the settle to that slope engineering. The creative of this thesis be placed in combine the model to experiment the method and the RFPA2D numbers to imitate the method, research the mechanism of deformation and failure to high and steep cutting slope, have a full understanding with it., On the one hand, lay the foundation for the research that the cutting slope designs to compute the method, on the other hand provide the suggestion of the cutting slope of right design, construction and settle.
