This paper is devoted to finite element analysis of magnetic field of the switched reluctance motor (SRM) and the research of the steady state performance, in order to promote the further application of SRM and the development of its magnetic field theory. Because the magnetic field of SRM has distinct flux fringe and intense local saturation effect on the stator and rotor poles, so this paper summarized and described systematically the fundamental principles and the development of electromagnetic field in the motor, and adopted 2D whole field finite element method (FEM) based on ANSYS software to calculate the magnetic field distribution and static characteristics of the model SRM. The results of simulation have indicated distribution principle of magnetism curve on several typical rotor location. And then the magnetization curves of electromagnetic field in the SRM were simulated, obtaining the ψ ?θ?icurve, inductance curve and static torque curve and so on. Above discussion could provide reliable theory foundation for the reasonable establishment of nonlinear model SRM and the further exploitation and application. In this paper the equivalent magnetic network method of the Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) was established and its steady state performance was analyzed by the magnetization curves obtained by finite element analysis. The actual current and torque waveforms were given on the control of APC. And the calculation results approached to the actual measure values so that the model switched reluctance motor in this paper was provided with highly precision and the reliable capability parameters for the steady state performance of SRM. So the research of this paper has some theoretical and practical application value for the SRM design, performance check and steady static performance.
