Research On Harmonic Disturbances Generator Testing Facility

Power quality disturbances mainly include: interruptions, voltage sags & swells, voltage fluctuations and harmonics, etc. To test custom power devices (CPD) for their ability to mitigate power quality disturbances, or to test electrical devices for their performance in the presence of disturbances, some special generators are needed to generate the required power quality disturbances. This paper first introduces the theory of power quality, analyzes several typical power quality disturbances generators at present, and designs the circuit structure of the power quality disturbances generator in this paper. The generator uses DSP as its controller and can generate many types of power quality disturbances. It is a power electronic device which could be cost-effective at much higher powers. This paper designs the control circuit and programmes the system control software. The power quality disturbances generator system is simulated and the simulation results verify its validity.
