Firstly, for the 863 project fuel cell electric vehicle program, the development of a test apparatus for proton exchange membrane fuel cell engine is presented. An effective test apparatus is imperative for fuel cell stack performance testing, model evaluation, and investigation of new fuel cell engine technology. This apparatus was designed to measure and control the mass flow rates of the reactant gases, gas pressures, gas temperatures, gas relative humidity, stack temperature, stack current, and the coolant water flow rate. The test stand developed in this article is a high-power and multi working conditions device for the fuel cell engine test, and it is designed in domestic for the first time. Specialty, the test stand can test the fuel cell in many working conditions, so that get the best working mode for the fuel cell. It is to optimize the fuel cell performance. The test stand can provide any working conditions to enter the inlet of fuel cell engine, so evaluate the fuel cell engine performance in the same condition. The stand can simulate the actual ambient of vehicle for the fuel cell engine part experiment. The part of fuel cell engine can be fixed in the stand to test and match to the fuel cell engine for vehicle working mode, so it can optimize the part performance. Secondly, the performance of a water injection scroll compressor used in fuel cell engine is tested in the developed test stand. Finally, the performance of the FCEV START TWO is tested by the typical drive cycle curve to use ADVISOR. A fuel cell engine simulation program is introduced. The cold-start simulating experiment is carried on to analyze the dynamic performance of fuel cell engine system.
