Magnetic fluid is a new-style magnetic material. Magnetic fluid seal attracts peoples' eyes for the outstanding performance on the seal of low-pressure gas. But on the seal of high-pressure gas or fluid, it still has many shortcomings, such as low sealed pressure and short life-span. To put it into use, there are still many things needed to be done.In this paper, a new type equipment of magnetic fluid seal is designed on the basic achievements of former studiers. On the experimental platform of self-designed, the key parameters of magnetic fluid seal are studied through experiments related. The mainly research and relative results as following:(1) Change the sealing gap , to study the impact of sealing gap on the magnetic fluid seal. With the decreasing of sealing gap, the dynamical sealing ability and still sealing ability is increasing. But the difference between dynamical seal and still seal increases at the same time.(2) Change the intensity of magnetic induction , to study the impact of magnetic induction on the magnetic fluid seal.The sealing ability of magnetic fluid increases with the hoist of magnetic induction's intensity, almost with the direct ratio.But the sealing ability tends to the condition of being saturated gradually.(3) By using different sealing-tooth designed with dissimilar shape to study the impact of sealing-tooth on the magnetic fluid seal. In the multi-tooth of magnetic fluid seal, the sealing ability of sealing-tooth designed with the shape of trapezia is just a little better than those designed with the shape of rectangle, both on the dynamical sealing and the still sealing.? Through the comparative experiments between dynamical sealing and still sealing , to study the impact of rotate speed on the magnetic fluid seal. Under the condition of multi-tooth sealing, the rotate speed can raise the ability of seal. Under the condition of few-tooth sealing, the rotate speed can reduce the ability of it.Furthermore, the paper analyses the minimum sealing force, the gravitation between two magnetic particulates, based on the achievements from the experiments related. After setting up the model of magnetic fluid seal, the equation of anti-pressure about magnetic fluid seal was deduced on the base of magnetic chains. Lots of experiments were used to validate the equation.The analysis of the equation shows that, the anti-pressure is the direct proportion with the thickness of sealing-tooth and the maximum gravitation of two magnetic particulates, and it is the inverse proportion with the sealing gap and the square of magnetic particulate's diameter.The validation of the equation shows that, the theoretical value approaches the experimental result very well. The equation is excellent compared with the traditional equation, such as, be convenience to calculate, the sealing force is in evidence and can be used in widely scope. It's hopeful to be a reference to the design of magnetic fluid seal.Finally, this paper summarizes the processes of the design about magnetic fluid seal, assisted by the analysis of magnetic field,the equation had been used to guide the design of magnetic fluid seal.
