The stability and stress state of small angle up-dipped composite soil nailing retaining wall were analyzed in this paper, along with its basic principle and design method on the basis of its application to retaining and protection of foundation excavations.The retaining and protection mode of small angle up-dipped composite soil nailing retaining wall was presented by comparison with vertical retaining and protection type used traditionally, according to the summary of experiences in design and construction of soil nailing retaining wall. Influential considerations were analyzed, and the principle and design method of this structure were presented.The structure presented in this paper is to combine fore-support up-dipped soil-cement mixed pile with soil nailing retaining wall, to decrease earth pressure and cope with problems caused by soft soil and high level ground water and so on. Compared with other retaining and protection structures, the small angle up-dipped type can solve the collapse problems of soft soil, the earth pressure can be reduced and the wall can be thinner, so this type is much more economical and will play a very important role in the retaining and protection of foundationexcavations in the upcoming future.Generally speaking, study on this type of retaining and protection of foundation excavations is just at its beginning, its application fields are still very limited, we aim to extend its application widely by doing some research work on it.Combined with engineering cases applied small angle up-dipped composite soil nailing retaining wall for retaining and protection of foundation excavations, the effects of nails in soil were further analyzed, in order to choose more reasonable parameters for design and to direct design on retaining engineering structures.Finally, the idea of dynamic design and observational control operations in deep foundation pit was further expressed in this paper.
