Inner ballistic design of a two-stage light gas gun is very difficult due to the fact that it has to study the movements of a piston and a bullet, which moves in two different chambers with pressure variation. A 25mm bore Hypervelocity Launcher is theoretically investigated in this paper by using inner ballistic equations studying the effects of dimensions and charging parameters on its ballistic performance. The resulting design parameters of the launcher with optimum aerodynamic structure and dimensions and optimum charging parameters, along with the results of the study conducted in this paper of the structure of high pressure vessels and thick-walled long-hole pipes, can be used as a guide to the design of 25mm bore Hypervelocity Launcher and their applications in launching tests.
