The arc-heater system, principle, devices, equipment development and test technical development and application of arc-heater supersonic turbulence flat ablation test technology are presents in this paper. Numerical simulation research on test flow-field is made. These provide the theory and practice basis for supersonic turbulence flat test technical development.According to the requirement of the test technical development, some devices such as rectangular contoured nozzles are redeveloped. The flow-field of the nozzle is simulated and compared to improve its structure. The nozzles completely meet the requirement. The operation of arc-heater is debugged and improved, and the measurement method on test parameters is introduced.The method of flow field simulation is introduced, and results of computation and test are compared and analysed. It is shown that the calculation method is completely fit for estimating flow-field before the tests, guiding the choice of the test parameters.The application of arc-heater supersonic turbulence flat ablation test technology is introduced. Some tests are carried out, such as the large area material ablation, material ablation matching test, and the protuberance in boundary-layer flat model ablation test. The result indicates that the arc-heated equipment and supersonic turbulence flat free jet ablation test technology can obtain high enthalpy airflow and enough uniform flow-field needed in the test.
