Portal frame structure with tapered members has many advantages like lightweight, fast construction and high economic benefit etc, so it has become a very important branch in steel structure buildings and it has the widest application in lightweight steel structures. Study on its stability has far-reaching significance to reasonable structure design and the promotion of lightweight steel structure development. Therefore, interactive bucking properties of tapered members and their effects on bearing-load capacity of portal frame have been focuses in this field.The global properties of tapered column are analyzed with local bucking based on effective method the current Chinese 《Technical Specification for steel structure of Light-weight Buildings with Portal Frames》 (CECS102: 2002). The results are also compared with the interactive buckling theory by taking account of some parameters.By further studying all aspects of tapered column, the author consciously chooses the object of research which studying the interactive bucking behavior of tapered column. The interactive bucking whole process parameter analysis of tapered column under non-uniform pressure has been performed, the analysis is divided into sections. The first part mainly reviews the interactive bucking properties of tapered member by the load -displacement curves and the whole destructive process on some parameters, such web width to thickness ratio, web tapering ratio etc. on. The second mainly analyzes all kinds of parameters of tapered column, a series of parameters changes of the component are taken account of, such as such web width to thickness ratio, web tapering ratio, web ratio of length to width. These results are compared with those of current Chinese 《Technical Specification for steel structure of Light-weight Buildings with Portal Frames》 (CECS102: 2002).
