Vehicle ride performance is the most important factor that determines the ride comfort of driver and passengers and the safety of cargo, has impacts on the dynamical and economical performance of vehicle, and influences the span life of the vehicle's parts. So, vehicle ride performance is one of the most important indices in the heating market competition. Thus, the investigation to improve the vehicle ride performance is attached more and more attention.This paper analyzes the ride performance of estate car of NJ6400GHA3 with the latest estimation method demanded by ISO2631-1:1997(E). Based on the theory of stochastic vibration, the vehicle is simplified to single wheel model with 2 freedoms, single trace model with 4 freedoms and whole vehicle model with 7 freedoms, and the vibratory responses are resolved in frequency-domain. The results of the three models are compared and the whole vehicle model with 7 freedoms is adopted to analyze the effects of riding velocities, roughness of load surface, load and the parameters of suspension forks on the ride performance, and the parameters of rigidity and damping of the front and rear suspension forks are optimized to improve the combined vibration comfort.
