Along with the development of country economy and deepen of electrical powersystem reform,an important mission of power system is to make the system runningeconomical on the basis of maintaining the voltage of the whole power network inallowable range.This thesis explains the objective and requirement of voltage/var control firstly.Voltage/var control based on strategies of expert systems and immunity principles isdiscussed in this paper,and then coordinative control strategy with particle swarmoptimization (PSO) are explained in detail. The strategy of fast voltage/var controlbased on a traditional method — nine-area diagram and the mathematic model used anobject composed of active power loss minimization and voltage level optimizationconsidering security introduced in this paper. So the problem of voltage/var control ofelectric power system is solved through particle swarm optimization algorithm.The IEEE-30 nodes system and a real network are used as tests systems to becarried out calculations of voltage/var control. The effect of algorithm is confirmedand the optimum strategy of range network is attained at last.
