The foundation piles of main-tower of Su-Tong Bridge are bore cast-in-place piles with large diameter and the length beyond one hundred meter, so the paper main analyzes the bearing capacity of pile and group effect, which the geologic condition is intricate. According to fully expounding the geologic condition of the location of the bridge and the structure of pile foundation and the research level of the bearing capacity of group pile foundation in the present, the paper analyzes the mechanism of group effect and the impact on bearing capacity of pile foundation. The finite-element numerical analyses and self-balanced method are adopted in the present paper to calculate and analyze the vertical bearing capacity of pile group of north main-tower is cleared up and analyzed. By comparing single pile with pile group, the effect on bearing capacity of pile group from group effect is analyzed and evaluated from the aspects of axial force of pile, frictional resistance and end resistance. The result indicates that the impact on bearing capacity of pile group is notable, which results in the serious difference in the bearing capacity of the pile in the pile group. The bearing capacity of pile group in the center only accounts for fifteen percent to the round. Luckily the bearing capacity of pile group meets the need of the project. And that the self-balanced method is worth to adopt to analyze the bearing capacity of the single pile in the case that the routine method is not fit in the deep-water circumstance for the large group pile foundation. But the result needs to be transformed, and to the important project, the equivalent-transformed method is fit.
