In order to searching for the engineering design method of the sealing system of torpedo launcher, and promoting its application, in this paper, the sealing system of large-scale centrifugal pump under transient operation condition in torpedo launcher is regarded as investigated object. According to the analysis on the special operating characteristic of the sealing system, the model, engineering design method, experiment, failure analysis and deformation of the sealing elements are studied in this paper.According to the operating environment and the operating characteristic of the large-scale centrifugal pump under transient operation condition, the special operating environment and the special operating characteristic of the sealing system are presented in this paper. The operating principle and main advantages of the conventional and late-model hermetically-sealed construction were analyzed according to the special operating requirement. On the basic of this, chose the suitable model of combined structure for this shaft sealing system.The key parameter of the sealing system was calculated and analyzed with the modified traditional method. The factors noted during the design of the sealing system working for the ejection system are given in this paper. The particular conditions of the ejection system should be considered during the design of the sealing system.The experiment device was designed for the sealing element to simulate the operating condition, and then conducts test on the designed sealing system. The main reasons of failure occurred in the sealing system were summarized and analyzed. And proper solutions were discussed.The paper has introduced the force analysis on the sealing system. The deformation was calculated, and the sealing characteristic was verified. The main reason of failure occurred in the sealing system was verified.The design and analysis method of the sealing system used in special condition were introduced in this paper. This paper involves two kinds of sealing structure of ejection system, and then conducts test on the used sealing element now. The sealing characteristics and the shortage are analyzed. This paper provides the foundation of design and application of the rotating sealing system of launcher.
