In pumping station water supply project, because of incorrect manual operation, emergency shutdown, and disaster, etc, the hydraulic transient( or water hammer) takes place frequently supply system, which causes the stoppage of pumping water supply, pump malfunctioning, and even personnel casualty. Water hammer has a heavy impact on pumping station and people's daily life. So it is urgent for the researchers to investigate the mechanism, calculation, predicting and safeguard of the hydraulic transient, the calculation veracity of the hydraulic transient will affect the safety, stability and economy about pumping operation. As the complexity of the hydraulic transient blocking the research of it, it is necessary to design a highly automatic experimental system on the hydraulic transient.The experimental system is centered on the industrial computer, the work state of the pumping will change along with the change of revs by transducer adjusting. The signal from the sensor is transmitted to the hydraulic transient testing instrument, and processed by the instrument, at last the signal is carried to the data acquisition card PCL-812PG. On the analysis of the theory of the hydraulic transient, the measurement scheme is composed of the software design and the hardware design. The software part includes interface design, software choice, code design and measuring data process. The hardware involves the lectotype of every sensor, and the development of the hydraulic transient instrument. Finally,installation and debugging of the field system are completed. During the course , the source of the interference on the measurement system is analyzed , and takes the relevant anti-interference steps. A lot of experiments prove the interference mainly exited in measuring data from the transducer. Besides we fulfill several experiments as result the hydraulic transient, the performance of pump, the efficiency of electromotor and transducer.The experimental system has succeeded in accomplishing varieties of signals, and has good stabilization and reliability. Although any interference presents in the system, the measuring result can reflect the mechanism of the hydraulic transient and the effect of the transducer energy-saving, and provide the reference to select electromotor, water pump and design the work state of pump in actual project.
