Because of the advantages of the disk permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor, being the perfect drive device, it is widely used in many fields such as spaceflight, national defense, agriculture, industry and so on. Making use of the high coercive force the NdFeB, a coreless disk PM synchronous motor, which has little mass and little torque ripple is presented. Because of structure of the axial flux and coreless, the magnetic field of the coreless disk PM synchronous motor is an open field and its distribution is 3D which is different from the conventional motor. The method of 2D analysis can't be used for it. In this paper, the research concentrates on two contents: (1)3D FEM is used to compute and analyze the magnetic field of the coreless disk permanent magnet synchronous motor, and the result of its magnetic field distribution is summarized. (2)Based on the magnetic field analysis, Habach array is used in PM structure design and the method of PM's structure optimization is discussed. Several types of PM's arrangement fit for the coreless disk PM synchronous motor are researched so that the ideal magnetic field distribution could be achieved. Using the method of magnetic circuit computation, the general rule of the magnetic field of the coreless disk PM synchronous motor can be got firstly. Then, 3D FEM model of the motor is set and the result is analyzed. With the demand of the low leak flux, high flux density and the sinusoidal waveform of the magnetic field distribution, conventional axial flux PM,variable thickness axial flux PM and 450,600,900 Halbach array PM are researched and analyzed. Then, for simplifying the production of the PM,combining the two arrangements of variable thickness PM with Halbach array, an ameliorative Halbach array is presented and the concrete dimension of the PM, the result of the magnetic field distribution computed with ANSYS is given.
