Robust design is a method of modem design. It can enhance the quality, decreasethe cost, and improve the competititiveness. The standard robust design uses physicalexperiments to gain quality data of product. With the development of digital design,the robust design uses digital model in the process of product development. It isimpotant to adapt the theory and practice of robust design for digital models. Thisthesis carries through some work in this direction.Firstly, the state of the art is summarized and the significance of the robustdesign using digital model of product is figured out.Secondly, the difference between robust design using digital model and standardrobust design is analyzed. The method and process of robust design are also brougntforward using digital model.Thirdly, the method of experiment design is studied for computer experiment.According to the characteristics of computer experiment, the feasibility of orthogonalarrays and Latin hypercube design is discussed in robust design using responsesurface method.Fourthly, orthogonal array is applied in robust design for channel dimensions ofproton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) flow-field plate. A similar exampleis also carried out using ANSYS. The experimental results are summarized as well.
