Currently, the water body pollution is increasingly serious. The lake of water resource seriously restrict our country's sustainable development, and more and more wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs) are needed. With the development of economy, many small towns in our country began to build WWTP. According to the situation of our country, water quantity, takeover of land limited, WWTP of small towns should pay more attention to Oxidation Ditch, SBR and modified SBR. With the increasing of wastewater treatment effluent quality, especially nitrogen and phosphorus, investigators and consumers have a regard for exploiting and applying wastewater treatment process with economic and reasonable, muti-functional, flexible control and stable operation.ICEAS process which can remove nitrogen and phosphorus at the same time is one of the widely used technologies in treating municipal sewage and has a good effect. In the initial time, ICEAS is mainly for satisfy the special sewage treatment request of small towns and remote industrial centers. But the actual situation at home is different from overseas. In south China, the strength of influentwastewater is lower than designed. ICEAS also has phosphorus removal and sludge problems in treating low-strength municipal sewage. And few research has been conducted on this. According this, modified ICEAS(MICEAS) is exploited. MICEAS is the connection of A2/O and ICEAS with their advantages. It improves its phosphorus removal ability by setting a anaerobic area (selective area ) and reflowing the sludge.The MICEAS technology treating municipal sewage has been researched in this thesis. Test result has indicated that :1. MICEAS has a good treat effect in a large strength range of influentwastewater. It has its best treat effect when the influentCODcr is between 150 and 300mg/L, the influentSS is between 90 and 150mg/L, the influentT-P is between 5 and 8mg/L,the influentT-N is between 50 and 70mg/L, the influentNH3-N is between 30 and 50mg/L.2. MICEAS keeps a middling or low Ns in the whole operation. When the Ns increases, wastewater treatment effluent quality and remaval rate is increasing. Under the condition of Ns=0.25~0.4 kgCOD/(kgMLSS·d), MICEAS has a good treat effect.3. MICEAS has a good COD remaval rate which can amount to over 85%.
