The paper taking the gear transmission system as study object deeply studied the analytical method of the gear body and transmission system, and Considered the working conditions of the gear and the elastomeric support influence to the gear vibration. The elastomeric dynamics model is built and the dynamical characteristics are calculated. The elastic axis is taken as elastic support considering the influences of the elastic axis to the vibration, the dynamic and response model is built under the conditions of the elastic support and response of elastomeric disk to the meshing teeth, and the response of meshing teeth are calculated. These are important to the dynamic design and analysis of gear transmission accurately.The paper deeply studied the fault gear system dynamical characteristics and analyzed the changes of meshing stiffness when crack faults appear. The fault gear is simulated using the ANSYS software, the result is compared to the theory, and the reliability is proved. Moreover, the influences of crack with different type and size to the gear dynamical characteristics are simulated, some valuable conclusions are shown. The fault gear system mathematical model is built and the varieties of dynamical characteristics are studied. These supplied important theoretical bases to effective fault diagnose and have important value to the fault system monitoring and diagnosing.The structural and systemic experiments of fault crack with different type and size are done, the vibration signals of the fault gear body and system are tested, and the dynamical characteristics of the structure and system are gained. The results are compared to that of simulation and theory, the validity of the theoretic and simulative is testified. Finally, the model for calculating the life of gear with crack at the foot is built, the life is analyzed and the residual life calculation formula of crack with different size is given. These have important instruction for predicting the residual life of the system with faults.
