X-by-wire systems have been established for several years in the area of aircraft construction. It is predictable that by-wire systems application without mechanical or hydraulic backup will implement in vehicles. By-wire technique has been become the tendency of automobile technology development.On-vehicle by-wire system includes Drive-by-Wire system, Steering-by-Wire system, and Brake-by-Wire. Signal-gathering devices of by-wire system translate driver's operation into electronic signals and send them to the control unit. The control unit analyses and computes these signals and sends the outcome to the electric operation unit. Electric operation unit fulfill its function as the outcome.This paper emphasized discussing safety-related control method and application device. The following several parts are the main content of this paper:1, Discussed the advantages and disadvantages of two kinds of Brake-by-Wire System, and chose Electro-Mechanical Brake system as research object. Established redundant disposure of hardware in Brake-by-Wire system.2, Introduced On-vehicle communication network and protocol — TTP communication net work for class C, which is applied in by-wire system. TTP/C network is time-triggered and applicable for real-time vehicle control system. The communication between every node of the TTP/C network and Brake-by-Wire Manager are regular.3, Designed the power supply system which is applicable for Brake-by-Wire System. Every possible failure is concerned in power supply control system, the corresponding solution is offered.4, Design brake pedal signal-gathering method, and discussed how to fulfill fault-tolerant function of brake pedal.5, Introduce the principle of electric brake actuator. Analyzed its brake-force and control method.6, Designed brake-force distribute scheme, and discuss how to achieve the anti-block function in Brake-by-Wire System.7, Design a emergent brake device which is applicable for Brake-by-Wire vehicle. It can apply the brake urgently when there is a need.
