Life interaction is a prominent characteristic that distinguishes landscapearchitecture from other civil engineering. Land is a great stage for life, whilethe natural elements such as sun light, wind, earth, and water on that land arefundamental for life prospering. "Like land like community". A specific landnot only shapes the character of its inhabitants, but also affects their minds."Land" is the most important concept in landscape architecture, involving therelationship between people and land as well as the eco-balancing of thecreatures on this land. Thus the perspective and the methods by which westudy the relationship between human being and land in landscape design isthe central question in this paper.Modern art once again pay attention to land. Land art works, whichmake people respect their land over again, and seek its value from a newperspective, greatly inspire landscape architectures. The author studiedseriously the land art works from the perspective of "land" to feel the ideasand methods among land artists, the relationship between human being andland, the landform artistic processing especially. This paper presents thedesign concept of "This Land This Landscape" based on a great deal ofpractice, and studies the well-balanced and harmonic eco-concept in betweenhuman being and nature and between human being and society in landscapeformation manifested by "This Land This Landscape". The design of QingdaoShanHaiXuan community, which cultivates the native artistic landform andtransforms the unbalanced land into waving landscape again, serves as aconcrete example in this paper to show the practical meaning and value of thedesign concept of "This Land This Landscape".In the concept of "This Land This Landscape", the land characteristicand community characteristic of the specific base, as well as the sensiblenatural elements, natural processes, and natural laws, are taken as sources ofdesign inspiration. "This Land" refers to the analysis of the internalcharacteristic of the specific land and to the choice of construction forms anddesign methods most suitable to this base. "This landscape" refers to thedesign process in which the natural characteristics of the base itself ispreserved with respect, the image revealed by "This Land" is deduced andassigned to new meaning and new life. Based on the eco-art-harmonic of"This Land" and "This Landscape", "This Land This Landscape" represents adesign philosophy of which the man-made land art seems to be growing outof this land.
