A Study On The Development Of The Landscape Art In China

"One can eat without meat but can not live without plant", this saying is thecognition of our ancestors to their living environment. It shows that they pay muchattention to the quality of their living environment, and they have made the citylandscape of their age----Garden. Today, the urbanization and modernization ofthe new era put the city into a high-speed development. Regrettably, however, inthe process of such high-speed growth, many cities lose harmony, features andbeauty.The ideas in "harmony of God and Man" and "harmony of Nature andMan" stressed in Chinese classical gardening happen to meet the need of the ideasin ecology and the demand of setting up the harmonious society. Therefore, thethesis gets enlightenment from culture and philosophy through studying on theartistic value of Chinese classical garden, expecting to give the current landscapedesign some inspirations.
