Research & Application On Machine Vision Measurement System

This paper is original from "On-line Measuring System for Cragged Surface on Special Working Conditions", supported by the Science and Technology Research Foundation of Anhui Province. This project is mainly research on the technique of measuring geometric parameters on train wheel profile applying machine vision measurement technology.It is significant to improve the inspection level by using machine vision measurement technology in on-line automatic inspection for train wheel flange and tread wear rates. Nowadays, the technique for flange and tread profile measuring has developed from contact measurement to uncontact measurement as photoelectric techniques. With the development of computer image processing and photoelectric techniques, vision measurement techniques have been developed rapidly. It has been widely used in industrial measurement.This measuring system works with linear laser projected onto the surface of the train wheel flange and tread. The laser light plane is intersected with the wheel profile to form a profile curve of wheel trackside. The image of curve is obtained by planar CCD system.The author mainly works on: (1) calibration technology, image capture and processing , data processing;(2) developing the laboratory apparatus for measurement of train-wheel on rail way;(3) the auto-control circuit for CCD camera operation;(4) the static and dynamic measurement error analysis and processing, the mathematics modeling between wheel displacement and the measured parameters in dynamic measurement system. The data of experiments show that the accuracy of measurement meets the requirement.
