The high strength and prestressed steel cable of steel structure with long span under heavy load is rationally assigned through the machinery, electric heat or chemical method to draw it, which makes the structure sets up prestressing before loaded. The prestressed force can reduce and offset the stress of structure when the structure is load-bearing. Thus the mechanical properties are improved, the peak value of the stress is reduced and the rigidity of structure is enhanced.In this paper, the construction and load-bearing capability of cable-prestressed steel truss which is commonly used at present are studied. Firstly, a comprehensive review on the tendency of prestressed steel structure is presented and the design principle and mechanical properties of the prestressed steel truss structure are studied. Secondly, three-phase design method of the prestressed steel truss is proposed. Stress-strain properties of every phase are theoretically analyzed and a more rational mechanical model is developed. Finally the load-carrying capability analysis program of the prestressed steel truss and the calculation of existing steel structure show that the methodology is practical and feasible.
