The thesis analyzes the shortcoming existing in tradional relaying of bus protection, puts forward the idea of using the artificial intelligence technology in the scheme of bus protection and establishes the relaying model. Artificial intelligence technology has the capability of self-studying and self-adaptivity.The thesis comprises two parts: the first one is the research of bus protection based on artificial Neural Network (ANN);the second one is the study of bus relaying system based on multi-agent technology.Chapter 2 expounds basis concept and normal principles of tradional bus protection and indicates the defect of these protections.Chapter 3 introduces the concept, characteristic and structure of artificial neural network (ANN) and multi-agent system (MAS).Chapter 4 introduces the research of bus protection based on artificial neural network in detail. For improvement of bus protection, it is necessary to introduce new theory and technology. As a mathernatic tool with high intelligence, ANN (Artificial Neural Network) is suitable for the research on new protection. For a long while, the application of ANN to relay protection is based on classification ability. ANN is trained by sample data, which can characterize fault. The various faults of power system can be distinguished and judged by the trained ANN. Unfortunately, lacking of sample data restricts the abroad application of ANN protection to power system. The relaying system has many prominent advantages compared to tradition protection. A lot of simulating calculations have been done. The results of model test showed their feasibility.Chapter 5 introduces the study of bus relaying system based on multi-agent technology. Making use the agent s characteristics ofautonomy, cooperation and distribution. The thesis puts forward the study of bus relaying system based on multi-agent technology. The relaying system consists of coordination agent and execution agent. Simulation results indicate that the relaying system has the advantage of instantaneous operation of the whole line compares to tradition protection, and the advantage of economizing the channel investment compares to pilot relaying. The project is feasible and can become the main protection of diverse voltage grade.At the end of the thesis, some important conclusions and future research directions after this research are given out briefly.
