Diaphragm wall is suitable for large span bridge in loess area, taking into account the characteristics of homogenous, vertical of loess subsoil and lower groundwater. Considering the case, the paper study on settlement of diaphragm wall foundation. Based on FEM(finite element method) analysis, settlement properties are put forward. With reference to existent, the paper brings forward a practical calculation method of vertical loaded diaphragm wall foundation. The properties of settlement of the diaphragm wall and soil are studied in the paper by use of the 3-D FEM mehod. According to the results, when the diaphragm wall are vertically loaded, the development of the outer shaft resistance of the diaphragm wall is more than the inner, and the relative settlement of the wall-soil gradually decrease in depth, which illuminate the shaft resistance of the wall transfer gradually from the top of the wall to the bottom along the depth. The end resistance determines the main vertical deformation of soil, and the vertical deformation of the soil under the wall always take place in the depth that ranged from 0 to 1.5 times the foundation width below the wall toe. Besides, the influences of deformation module, possion's ratio of loess and friction coefficient on the settlement are reseached.Using for reference methods of group piles, different are compared, and the simple settlement calculation method for diaphragm wall in Yun Cheng area is proposed.
