Following the entrance into WTO , China has accomplished a unprecedented development in economy. Due to the expanding of infrastructure investment, the transportation and circulation of materials is increasing year by year. The economic development has put forth more requirement and challenge for transportation industry. As a main branch for national economic development, the transporting capacity of railways can not meet the requirement of national economic development. Thus, the "heavy-haul transportation" has become an above-all subject in present railway transportation study.To increase the transporting capacity and to meet the requirement of national economic development, the MOR (Ministry of Railways) has put the "leap over" strategy into practice in recent years which leads the development of the freight wagon to the target-"high-loading and time-saving". The MOR has brought out the related high-loading policy for Class 70 ton freight wagon including Class 70 ton gondola car, flat car and box car which creates a foundation for the running of heavy-haul freight trains.Class 70 ton new type tank car for light oil and viscous oil is a high-loading tank car (axle load 23t) which is developed and designed by XRSW (Xi'an Rolling Stock Works) with accordance to the requirements of high-loading technical policy for railway freight wagons. The car adopts stub sill structure and its loading capacity is increased by 8t and 7t comparing with G70 and G17B tank cars. To meet the demand of high-loading, the standard for car strength test is increased. New type tank car claims more reliability on vehicle structure in which the draft sill and body bolster assembly is a key part. Because this part is bared with various forces including longitudinal impact forces, vertical and horizontal forces, the reliability of this part isdirectly related to the safe running of the whole tank car. This thesis is trying to probe into the general rules for draft sill and body bolster structure of stub sill tank car through discussing the design, structure-selecting and development ideas of Class 70 ton new type stub sill tank car and to provide general assistance to the design and structure-selecting of general stub sill tank car.
