Process planning plays an important role in gear-box manufacturingin our company,and because of its typical structure,the gear-boxprocess can be management by computers. In this paper, the authorapplied the theory and technique of expert system, network and databaseto process planning in gear-box manufacturing for the practical project.By using Windows 2000 as system platform, MS SQL Server2000 as databaseplatform, MS Visual Basic 6.0 as developing tool and ActiveX DataObject(ADO) as application programming interface for database, theauthor designed and accomplished the "Intelligent CAPP system ingear-box manufacturing ".using this meaning, the efficiency of theprocess designing was improved;the periodicity of the processpreparation was shorten;criterion of process design was standard;theprocess designing knowledge was summed an inherited;the level ofprocess designing and quality of designing was developed. Computer Aided Process Planning(CAPP) is a tecnolegy which usescomputer to aid Process personnel to design process. IntelligentCAPP(ICAPP) is a all-around study domain that linked ArtificailIntelligence(AI) and CAPP tecnolegy. ICAPP applied AI theory in CAPPto make CAPP system possess in some degree process designer'sintelligence and thought, and to deal multiply meaning and not assuredproblem, to simulate the expert to design in some degrees, to resolvesome mistiness problem in process designing.In this paper, the designing theory of the gear-box manufacturingCAPP was studied from 5 aspects.1)The frame construction design of Intelligent CAPP systemAccording to the manufacture organization of the gear-boxmanufacturing and the expert system, and giving the appropriate deriverfor complementarily, the system constructed three main databases:production basic database, process document database and processknowledge database, at the same time made the three main human-computerinteraction module production data management, process management andknowledge management, and establish full expert system. Processpersonnel can manage the data of production basic database byproduction data management module. After process expert wentmanagement to process knowledge database by knowledge managementmodule, got the knowledge and finished the production process, processpersonnel get the correlation parameter offered from processmanagement module, then by the illation machine get the correlationdata or knowledge from production basic database and process knowledgedatabase, and illation the process of the production.In terms of the character of c/s of the strong interaction, rapiddata disposing and echo and the practice fact, the two layer c/s systemconstruction is used in system design.2) The application of expert systemThe expert system is a kind of computer application program systemwhich can simulate human expert solve field problem. There are a greatdeal of acknowledge and experience of the especially field expert levelin the expert system, and it can use the acknowledge of human expertand way of solving problem to illation and judgment, estimate thedecision-making process of human expert and solve the complex problemof the field. In this designing by the process flow chart offering byprocess personnel, it can get the process regular and knowledge, thenstorage them to expert system knowledge database. When run the systemprocess personnel input the information to the expert system, thensystem use the information and knowledge to get the right illation,and program the right process.In the system, the expert system based production regular is usedwhich is made of knowledge database and dynamic database, illationmachine. There, the OPS is used for designing illation machine andexpert system knowledge database.3) The design and realization of databaseDatabase is the focus and basis of the information system. Itorganizes by especially model, a great deal of data in the informationsystem for the function of storage, maintenance and research. Thisdatabase is made of user management database, production basis database,process document database and process knowledge database, and use viewand storage process, the two database technology.4) The system safety and authority managementGenerally, system use two safety control institutions, one is atthe system level and the other is at application level. The safetymanagement institution at the system level is which make use of theauthority offering by operating system and database system, give theaccessing authority to every user. This institution can ensure systemsafety in a degree. The safety management institution at applicationlevel is which provide friendly human-computer interaction interface,through the development person compile the program to system function.At this time the manager need only setting user's accessing authorityby interaction way.Considered from the environment of hardware and software, systemis from network safety control, data store and the safety of databasethe three aspects to achieve safety management at the system level.The safety management institution at application level is which inand job flow, distribute the different operation authority to thedifferent person, to achieve dynamic, safe, flexible and practicalusers accessing authority.5)Process decision-making of the typical parts in the gear-boxProcess decision-making is a process which uses a kind of meansand technology to design rules of the process, working procedure andthe detail, then to make a process document. It's complicated,multiple hierarchy and multiple task, and involved many key technology.In this paper, according to the structure character of the typical partsin the bear-box, the process decision-making principle and theachievement ways of the kind of box and gear parts were bring forward.In conclusion, CAPP is the especial Intelligent CAPP system basedon local area network and two layer c/s constructions. It uses OOD andengender ruler to show the knowledge construction of process, and thefriendly human-computer interaction interface can get the knowledgefrom process expert, by OOD stores the expert system knowledge to SQLServer, and using OPS to construct expert system illation machine,thereby CAPP of typical part in gear-box actualize. This must advancethe standard and criterion of our company's manufacture process, andreduce manufacture cost. It has great theory meaning and utility valueto actualize construction machinery production and at some degree havereference value for CAPP.
