Along with our country national economy national economy rapid development, our country's road project also develops swiftly and violently. As a result of the vehicles load repetition function, cavity beneath slab has appeared under the concrete slab. How to examine cavity beneath slab of the concrete road always doesn't have the very good method.This article discusses one kind of new examination method of cavity beneath concrete slab - infrared thermal imaging technique. The conventional examination methods have big labor intensity, the speed slow and create damages to the road bed. The infrared thermal imaging technique is one kind of new technology that does not have damages in the examination. It has some the unique superiority such as non- contact, fast, accurate, direct-viewing and so on. It transform into the obviously hot image that comes from the goal infrared radiation with the aid of the infrared thermal imaging system through the hot image characteristic analysis resting on three intrinsic relations of the object the infrared radiation -surface temperature - materials behavior. The surface temperature distribution of the object is understood direct-viewingly. Then, the goal infers object internal structure and the surface condition are achieved.This article carries on the value simulation to this method by utilizing large-scale finite element software basing on the heat conduction theory. The analysis of contrast is carried on between obtained result and experimental result. It has the very important project application value and the practical significance.This article main content as follows:1. Summarize the methods of examining cavity beneath concrete slab and discuss one kind of examining technology of infrared thermal imaging technique.2. The principle and the theory basis of infrared thermal imaging technique. As well as, the application whit technique this in civil engineering is introduced.3. Introduce the heat conduction theory and the heat conduction differential equation and boundary condition, the concrete performance of heat and the method of study on the thin view simulation of concrete.4. Introduce the finite element theory and research heat conduction question with the finite element technique. The value simulation of infrared thermal imaging technique for examining cavity beneath concrete slab is carried on. The contrast is put up with the experimental result. The further research is done with the finite element method. The greatest thickness of examining and preliminary qualitative relations between the shape of cavity and the surface temperature distribution are obtained theoretically.
