specical joint is one of kinematic pairs, spherical joints combined with other kinematic pair have extensive application in mechanical system in series or other forms. Too many connect component often affect operation precision. In order to improve operation precision and reduce connect component. We developed two new compound spherical joints with multi-function,it can be applicated to traditional mechanism system and it also can be applicated to Micro- mechanism system after miniturization.In this thesis, the concept of compound spherical joint has been presented based on the comparion with merits and demerits of a lots of spherical joints.Two new compound spherical joints are successfully designed with theory of inventive problem solving(TRIZ) ,their links rotate about the same point and the range of motion of the two new compound spherical joints is large . The assembly relations, the kinematic relations, degree of freedom, rotational angles, force relations and other characteristic are analysed and calculated. The finite element method is used to have stress analysis and search for the weakess section of two new compound spherical joints according to the analysis of force. Finally, two new compound spherical joints are producted by traditional manufacturing technology.Being a totally new conception, the design of new compound spherical joint are all creative. The research content and result will effectively promote the development of kinematic pair, mechanism structure and Micro-robot.
