Today with spans of suspension bridges are becoming longer and longer, the stiffness and damping ratio of structures depress clearly and the critical wind speed of flutter fall accordingly. So flutter has a critical bearing on the design of long-span suspension bridges. A systematic study of the flutter analysis theories and the aerodynamic control measures is carried out in terms of dealing with the project of constructing a long-span suspension bridge with main span of 1280m.Based on the two dimensional flutter analysis method and three dimensional flutter analysis method, the flutter form of bridge is studied. The results by mathematical calculating method and wind tunnel model experimentation means show that the flutter stability of the bridge may fail to be ensured and the aerodynamic wings should be applied as a effective aerodynamic measure to improve the critical wind speed.At the end, the influence is also studied of the different structural damping ratio on the flutter stability of the system.
