Image Identification Technology, which characters the real-time identification and steady reliability, is essential skills to enhance the identification ability of Paper Currency Identification Instrument. It can identify the denomination and paper currency and seek out deformity. Concerning shortages of the previsions design of Paper Currency Identification Instrument, such as poor seeking-out deformity and defective unity of paper currency between new version and old one, a new identifying method is promoted in the thesis that Eight-line Seeking-points Method based on regional gray scale and paper currency sample database is on service by means of the points from paper-scanned background edge looking for the points on the paper edge. The Identification Instrument in the thesis collects the paper currency images by specific CIS Sensor while paper currencies circumgyrating with high speed. The images database collected will be located instantly in background information by Eight-line Seeking-points Method. Then the characters of gray scale of images will be taken and analyzed. It illustrates light and shades of the paper currency both backward forward. Consequently, it can represent the essence of identifying paper currency. Moreover, the gridding method is taken to improve seeking out deformity. Each gridding is going to be sampled and statistic in order to measure the relation between points on background and on images so that seeking out deformity is achieved. The paper currency sample database is required to be established for estimation both of regional characters and deformity. The sample database includes characterized region location, paper currency length, gray scale average and ratio between paper currency image and scanned background image. The sample database in the thesis is based on regional estimation and match. The Identification Instrument is achieved by computer language C. The simulated test shows that the Identification Instrument has high value on project application with stability and real-time demands.
