This paper presents a practical and efficient method to incorporate energy analysisinto conventional time domain transient stability simulation for a power system transientstability analysis. Time domain simulation method is generally regarded as the bestavailable transient stability analysis tool in terms of accuracy, reliability and modelingcapability. However, time domain simulation alone has two main disadvantages.Stressful computation requirement and incapability to provide any quantitative stabilitymargin assessment. EEAC has been proved a successful direct method, especially theadvantages as the extremely fast computation speed and the ability to get the informationof stability margin. But the weakness of half-baked modeling of power systemcomponents limits its applications. So the hybrid method presented in this paper cancalculates the stability margin based on post-fault swing curve with full modeling ofpower system components. The analysis indicates this method has such advantages asthe accuracy and reliability of the system's swing curve, the referenced stability margin.
