Firstly, the significance of the design of the generator's fault diagnosis system forthe inter turn short circuit fault of the rotor winding and the studying means of the interturn short circuit fault of the rotor winding and the design ways of the fault diagnosissystem is analyzed in the paper. Then the mechanism of the generator fault for the interturn short circuit of the rotor winding is studied, and a conclusion is gotten that there areeven harmonious wave in the current of rotor winding and stator winding and thecirculating current between the two parallel branches of the stator winding. TheMulti-resolution Analysis is used in the analysis of the inter turn short circuit of the rotorwinding in order to exactly diagnosis the fault. Finally the fault diagnoses system isdesigned based on the software of the LabVIEW and the hardware of Data Acquisitioncard PCI-6251. It can manage the data of the generator by the database, and it cananalyze the generator fault on line. The parameter can be inquired in it. And the faultdiagnosis system is successfully applied to SDF-9 generator.
