There are complex structures and diverse patterns of seawalls, and the influence of seawall berm width and its elevation on irregular wave run-up is also very complicate. Due to various research tools and methods, different scholars get different calculation methods of wave run-up, but most of research has been oriented at moderate slope, little on steep slope which in fact are common in our country. Therefore, a pilot study is necessary.Experiments have been carried on in the irregular wave water flume in this dissertation, which has comprehensively considered the berm elevation, the width range of variation, and the influence of berm elevation and width to the wave run-up. When the berm elevation is in the still water level, the span of berm and the gradient of slope change has been considered. More than 600 groups of experiments have been carried on. The analysis of experimental results showed that the test result is reliable.According to the experiment materials:1) The influence of berm elevation and width to the irregular wave run-up has been analyzed, and the rule that how wave run-up change in according to the berm elevation and width has been obtained.2) When the berm elevation locates in the still water level, theinfluence of the slope and the bem span to the irregular wave run-up has been analyzed.3) This dissertation uses berm reduction coefficient K_b to express the influence of berm elevation and width on wave run-up, and has simulate the formula of reduction coefficient, which is feasible through comparison.
