In allusion to the status of poor anti-jamming and dependability which need to be improved of many different existing protection devices for longitudinal rip of belt of the belt conveyor, the electromagnetic induction theory of sensor and some problems of protection device's anti-jamming and dependability were lucubrated, then all of hardware and software of the protection device were designed, and a new electromagnetic induction type monitoring system for longitudinal rip of rubber belt was developed. By incessantly monitoring the working state of conveyer belt, the monitoring system will stop conveyer immediately and give out an alarm when the longitudinal rip happens, thereby losing caused by the accident can be reduced. Many measures, such as sensor's optimization design, choosing the signal's frequency and magnitude as detection target, mounting sensor loops position detector and adopting address table manage system, are developed to improve the system's dependability. Many anti-jamming measures, such as electric potential displacing jamming eliminating, error range permit comparing and the judgement of induction loops, are proposed to improve the system's anti-jamming ability. An intelligent real-time monitoring software system based on the microcontroller AT89S52 is developed. A friendly man-machine interaction interface and the communication interface with computer are designed. All these make the system more practicable. The feasibility of the scheme proposed was proved by the result got from the prototype model experiments.
