Laser particle sizer based on scattered light is widely used in the field of particle measurement. Data processing algorithm is critical to the precision, repetition and authenticity of laser particle sizer. The non-mode algorithm is an effective method to obtain the actual particle distribution. So the work as follows, which centers about non-mode algorithm of data processing, has been done in this paper. Four algorithms that the improved Projection algorithm with introducing an increasing fine coefficient and steepest descent algorithm, improved Newton algorithm and conjugate gradient algorithm are presented and the property of the four algorithms has been analyzed in detail theoretically and tested by experiments. The main research work accomplished and innovation of paper can be summed up as follows: 1. Based on achievement obtained by my projection group, the improved Projection algorithm with introducing an increasing fine coefficient has been proposed. And the theoretical analysis and computer simulation have been done and also comprehensive research on improved algorithm with respect to its sensitivity and iterative rate and also iterative precision has been done. 2. The three algorithms that steepest descent algorithm and improved Newton algorithm and conjugate gradient algorithm have been presented as non-mode algorithms applied to the non-mode data processing of laser particle sizer. Detailed compare and analysis has been done for the three algorithms through computer simulation. 3 All the algorithms have been programmed and been applied to laser particle sizer. And then some practical experiments on the standard particle board and national standard particle have been done. Comparing and analyzing the results of national standard particle measurement from the paper's algorithms and Malvern instrument, we can see the four algorithm of the paper can rapidly get the results and steepest descent algorithm shows the best capability.
