The Applied Research On CCTV Inspection Technique And Assessment For Sewer In Shanghai

The main purpose of this paper is investigating technique of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV ) inspection for sewer evaluation. A draft standard of Sewer system assessment of Shanghai was put up.The study of this paper is supported by the Project of applied research on sewer inspection and rehabilitation with trenchless technology. Some representative drainage systems in Jingan, Putuo and Yangpu districts were selected as research objects. The sewer condition was evalutated. Then, according to the results, the pipelines to be rehabilitated were determined and some suggestion on the choice of trenchless technology was given.In this work of sewer inspection, main defects found are infiltration, pipeline corrosion, pipeline hole, illegal connection, deposits, grease. Other types of defect often reported are seldom found.On the basis of CCTV standard of Britain, Demark, A defect rating system and CCTV inspection ranking system was established according to the situation of sewer systems in Shanghai, which is characterized in high groundwater table, quick sand condition, inferior materials and so on.This paper presents some advices on the development of CCTV inspection guideline of Shanghai on which to evaluate all inspection work for maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, or simple asset condition assessment. The necessity and importance of sewer inspection was discussed.The work of this paper promotes the work of sewer inspection, condition assessment and routine maintenance in Shanghai, even in other areas of China. It also provides lots of experiences and data to the development of sewer management.
