In this paper, basing on the basic theory and discretization method of random field,aiming at the calculation method and discretization method of correlation distance of random field,carry through the detail calculation and analysis.Combining with the engineering example for reliability calculation of gravity dam,considering the randopm field models of dam basement,calculate the reliability of gravity dam.At first,basing on the basic theory of random field,systemly study the numbering property ,local average method ,correlation distance of random field.Using two key method (correlation function method and recurrence average method )calculate the correlation distance of rock basement.Second,basing on analysis and study of discretization method of random field,discuss the local average method of random field discretization,and combine with elastic modulus of gravity dam basement,calculate the covariance and correlation coefficient.Then,basing on the spacial SFEM program,add the program of random field.The program can be used to calcualte the reliability of spacial structure. Aiming at the section of gravity dam,calculate the reliability of gravity dam,educe the rational result.Analysize and compare the result of two models(stochastic variable model and random field model),educe some good result that can be consulted by designer and researcher.
