The study of composite ground of rigid pile is concentrated on the following two main points: the first is the load transfer law between pile and soil, the second is the behavior of the soil resistance at the pile tip. Starting with the penetration of the pile into the saturated clays, The nonlinear behavior of the soil resistance at the pile tip in the study is predicted. The work includes the several main points as follows:1. This paper describes the fundamentals of the strain path method and presents solutions for the effects of quasi-static undrained penetration of piles. On the basis of close solutions of the strain rates, the clay obeys a Drucker-Prager yield criterion, and exhibits no strain hardening or softening during plastic flow. The elastic-plastic boundary and approximate solutions for predicting total stress components in plastic soil can be obtained. Explicit solutions of the total stress and volumetric stress in plastic area are computed by integrating equilibrium equations along special lines.2. Based on the strain path method, Considering the distribution of the subsidiary stress of the composite foundation under the flexible pile cap condition, prediction of stresses and strains ahead of a simple rigid pile during undrained penetration in isotropically uncompressible soft clays is attained, This paper also identifies important factors such as angle of friction and shear module affecting penetration stress in surrounding soils of the pile tip.3. With reference to present expression of the friction at the pile soil interface attained by experience methods, this paper derives the equilibrium condition of the pile and the relative displacement consistent equations of the soil. Assuming that pile is uncompressible compared with soil, a simplified analytical method is presented of the behavior of rigid pile composite foundation. The influence of various design parameters such as replacement ratio and parameters of soil is investigated.
