With the development of automobile industry and a sharp increasing in the present quantity of vehicles, vehicle exhaust emission has become a main source of atmosphere pollution. Hereby, countries all over the world established relevant regulations, standards and rules to improve atmosphere environment deteriorated increasingly. Controlling of exhaust emission of in-use vehicles is one of effective means to decrease the percentage sharing in the atmosphere pollution for vehicle exhaust emission. Inspection test methods of exhaust emission of in-use vehicles are various, and the test cost, application area and test precision grade are inequable. Study of the characteristics of exhaust emission and exhaust inspection methods for in-use vehicles is required urgendy in environment protection.Firstly, this thesis studied the characteristics of exhaust inspection methods for in-use vehicles. It was put forward the evaluation parameters of test cycles for vehicle exhaust emission with the means of test cycle analysis. And it was analysed the correlation between every transient emission test modes of in-use vehicles and the relevant type approval test modes of America, Europe and China. With the comparison experiment, it validated the correlation between IM195 test mode and type approval test mode of China (GB18352.2-2001), city test mode and short test mode. It is obtained the conclusion that the correlation is higher between the TUV-A test mode and the NEDC mode, the IM240 test mode and FTP-75 mode, and the correlation is about 70% between Chinese IM195 mode and type approval test mode of China.Whereafter, it was performed emission characteristic study of in-use vehicles on emission inspected datum by data statistic analysis soft of SPSS and data mining soft of MineSet. With SPSS, it was done a regression analysis between driving mileage, using age and emission value, and it was gained regression equations between driving mileage and emission values, between vehicle age and emission values. And it was predicted driving mileage and vehicle age which emission value will beyond the limit values with these regression equations. With MineSet, it was done a data mining action, and concluded the inspecting association rule of test mode between ASM5024 and ASM2540, the association rule of conformity ratio between yellow brand and green brand, the inspecting association rule of emission index among CO, HC, NOx, the classification rule of conformity ratio of emission among vehicle model, the association rule of inspiration mode of diesel engine, the test point association rule of HSU100, HSU90 and HSU80, etc.Finally, based on the research conclusion from above, it was carried out study of emissionmonitoring measures for in-use vehicles. It put forward means of monitoring limit value of emission, monitoring logic, monitoring cycle model and calculating way of new limit value. And it also did the analogous research in inspecting period of vehicle emission with green or yellow brand and regression equation of emission.These conclusions including exhaust pollutant regression equations of in-use vehicles, characteristics of exhaust emission and inspection methods for in-use vehicles though data mining, emission monitoring measures and emission monitoring models are usable for environment management departments.
