The control mode of Voltage Source Converter based High Voltage Direct Current (VSC-HVDC) transmission is analyzed in the thesis. Simulation on PSCAD/EMTDC is used to analyze the start process of the VSC-HVDC system. PI controllers are designed to verify the process strategy. Simulation results show that when the set points are changed, the controllers can meet the requirement of start process. Additional H_∞controller of VSC-HVDC system is designed by use of H_∞control theory. Meanwhile, a simulation on Matlab/Simulink is proceeded to do some researches and the results show that the designed controller can effectively limit the disturbance of AC voltage d-axis component. Data Acquisition (DAQ) Card's acquisition software based on LabVIEW and an algorithm to caculate reactive power with voltage and current acquisited by DSP are designed. An initial physical test model, whose converters composed by Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs), is built up for the case of supply to passive system.This project is supported in part by Specialized Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education, the State Education Ministry of China (no.20010079001).
