In the reconnaissance of engineering geology ,the most true andreliable datas originate from soil mass in-situ measurementtechnology .This technology commonly refers to a sort of geotechnicsurvey technology in engineering geology investigation scene , whichobtains physical mechanic property index and divides soil layerthrough the test of the soil layer in the situation of not disturbance .Compared with routine drilling-sampling-house survey procedure , ithas many strongpoints ,such as precise , fast ,economical ,savingmanpower and so on .In all kinds of in-situ measurement ,staticpenetration is one of the most extensive and sophisticated way .Staticpenetration takes advantage of quasi static force (compared todynamic penetration , without or seldom shock load )to press the drillwith sensor inside into earth at an average speed ,in this procedurethe sensor converts the penetration resistance force to electricalsignal ,which is recorded by a memorizing meter .Then according to qualitative relationship and statisticcorrelation of penetration resistance force and characteristics ofengineering geology of soil,it obtains soil profile ,bearing capacityof shallow foundation,selection of supporting course of pile toe andbearing capacity of individual pile . Some projects like highwaysubgrade survey ,often only need soil-mass mechanics parameters ofshallow soil or lamination and strenghthed soil layer .Its surveydepth is commonly less than 1 meter . And the conventional staticpenetration instruments are not only bulky and costly ,but also wastemuch manpower and material resources .So the portable staticpenetrometer is designed .It is different from conventional staticpenetrometer .It does not need large-scale mechanical penetrationsystem ,but adopts 1-meter-long feeler lever .Portable staticpenetrometer takes advantages of human's force to press the drillinto the earth at an average speed ,acquisites soil-mass mechanicsparameter and analyses soil-mass mechanics property of shallowsoil.It is a new explored survey instrument ,applying to engineeringsurvey of shallow soil,construction and check of foundationsubsoil,earth dike fill engineering,quality detection of road andburied penstock construction and appraisement of mellow degree of topsoil.The design of portable static penetrometer was based on(SoC )C8051F005 singlechip processor,which is a completly integratedcomposite-signal system-level chip and compatible with instructionset of MCS-51. C8051F005 has inner core of microcontroller that wascompatible with 8051. C8051F005 has a great many merits.Forinstance,it adopts pipeline architecture that makes executing speedof instruction increase 12 times.It integrates simulation and digitalcomponents of 12-bit AD.Its MCU can effectively supervise externaldevices of simulation and digit .Besides it can shut single or wholeexternal devices to economize power consumption.It owns intrafolialJTAG and debugging circuit ,which can do system debugging of nonintrusion and use full speed .So this can give program debugging moreconvenience .Portable static penetrometer system includes cell ofdata acquisition, liquid crystal display ,USB storage and ultrasonicrange.The PCB board of control system of portable static penetrometeradopts four-veneer-sheet wiring .Element and device adopt SOPencapsulation .So the area of PCB board is reduced .System powersupply partly adopts lithium battery .That makes instrumentminiaturize and reach the purpose of portable structure.LCD is settedhorizontally to observe data plot conveniently,which reflectschanges of soil-mass mechanics parameter visually.A great deal ofexperiments proved that the accuracy of the measured datas metrequirement.Portable static penetrometer is a kind of fieldinstrument.A lot of datas should be collected and disposed ,so theinstrument adopts CH375 which supports USB 1.1 consultative torealize USB HOST technology and data storage . Ultrasonic ranging isfree from disturbance of ray,electromagnetic wave and dust.Itsaccuracy reach engineering range accuracy of cm level.And itpossesses some predominace in distance detection of engineeringsurvey.So the instrument adopts ultrasonic to measure depth.Afterdata acquisition begins,it starts ultrasonic rangingPortable static penetrometer proceeds data acquisition once every1 cm.Its software adopts modularized design ,and its operatinginterface adopts menu mode to operate easily.And then we didsimulation test of data acquisition using this system and also didresearch into upgrading capable.After a series of research,weconclude that portable static penetrometer has highsensitivity,visual data,firm construction,compactness,light weightand easy operating.In addition,it can select many testing pointbecause of low cost.
