During the 1994 Northridge Earthquake in America and 1995 Hyogoken-Nanbu Earthquake in Japan, many rigid connections steel frames were seriously damaged, and many of which were brittle fracture at the connections. But in contrary, the semi-rigid connected steel frame has better capability in transmutation and energy absorption which can resist dynamic loads., so it became the hotspot. The top-and-seat angel connection joint belong to a typical semi-rigid connection form, so research on behavior of semi-rigid connection is not only significant for theoretical, but also important in practice.Based on synthetically taking nonlinear (geometry, material and contact), the bolt pretension and column axis forces into account, the 3-D model of the beam-to-column connection jointed by top and seat angel is established, using the finite-element software ANSYS 8.0, the response of top and seat angel connections under monotonous load is researched on. Then 6 classifications including 16 specimens are created with different parameters, Through calculating by using nonlinear finite element program, further systematic analyses are put on the influential parameters of friction coefficients, bolt pretension forces, thickness of angel, length of angle, column forces, distance from bolt edge to angle back.The main result of this paper indicate:(l) Top-and-seat angel connection is a joint whose carry capability and initial connection stiffness is relatively week, joint's deform is caused by the distortion of angel and bolt, but the distortion of beam and column is slight. And destruction usually occurs on angle.(2)Around the keyhole, the stress centralizes, column' edge opt to inflects in local.(3)The change of friction coefficients or bolt pretension forces can't affect the performance of top-and-seat angel connections so much.(4)The parameters of angel influence joint's performance greatly. When the thickness of angel added, whole connection's carrying and deforming capability and stiffness are advanced. And when the length of angel added, connection's carrying capability and stiffness raised, but deforming...
