Electrochemical supercapacitors are new energy storage components between batteries and electrostatic capacitors, which have higher power density than that of batteries and higher energy density than that of electrostatic capacitors, so they are considered to be new-style energy sources with high efficiency and extensive practicability. When working with batteries, they can meet the high power out-put need of electric vehicles when starting-up or accelerating. Otherwise, they can also be used in many fields, such as fuel cells, mobile telephones, electric components of microcomputer, power sources for small electrical equipment and direct current switches, and so on. Activated carbon has been used as the material of capacitor electrode for a long time, because of its cheap price, good capability and long cycle life. Now activated carbon based supercapacitor has become a hotspot in research. In many countries other than China, supercapacitors have been successfully used in electric vehicles. For all purposes, it's very important to work on supercapacitors to accelerate the development of electric vehicles in our nation.According to the principle of energy-storage there are three types of capacitors: electrochemical double-layer capacitor, faradaic pseudocapacitor and hybrid capacitor. Several measure methods were used in the experiments, such as cyclic voltammetric measurements (CV), constant charge/discharge measurements, impedance spectrum and simulation with equivalent circuit, and so on. A series of work was done, including preparing and optimizing carbon electrode, selecting the electrolyte, assembling and magnifying supercapacitor and preparing phenolic resin based activated carbon material.After many experiments, it was proved that activated carbon performed well in the organic electrolyte of LiPF6/EC+DMC (1mol/L). The preparation conditions of carbon electrode were researched on emphases, and the optimal process was obtained, after the effects of different conditions to the performances...
