There are all have the high rock slope in railroad, traffic, water conservancy, and mine etc. basic engineering construction region. In order to make these infrastructure project well developing and fully displayed the engineering application function, it is the important meaning to make sure the high slope stability during the time of construction and operation.In this paper, the intake high slope of Xiaowan Hydropower Station in Lancangjiang River Yunnan province has been taken as an example. The combination methods of prototype investigation and indoor analysis, mechanism analysis and simulation studying have been used. The advanced theory and methods such as the Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Rockmass Mechanics, Mathematical Statistics, and Numerical Simulation etc are included. On the basis of the former studied about the stability analysis of intake high slope and supporting optimization design, combined with the investigation of the deformation damage phenomena disclosed in the excavation process, the slope monitoring analysis and slope numerical simulation etc. the intake slope stability has been re-evaluation and the supporting optimization design scheme has been verified and analyzed. These will make sure the intake slope of Xiaowan Hydropower Station long-time stability. The acquired results are as follows:1. On the basis of the engineering geological condition investigation, combined with the slope excavation, the rock mass structure characteristic of the intake slope have been fully studied. These include the structure plane engineering geological classification; the all levels structure plane engineering geological character and quality; and the rock mass structure engineering geological subzone. Then, the rock mass structure model of the slope has been established.2. Through the deformation damage phenomena disclosed during intake slope excavation investigation, illustrated that mainly in the epigenetic reformation situation, the unload relaxation deformation has been formed in the shallow slope surface. It has the disturbed deformation controlled by the low-angle crack in part. After proper supporting measure, the deformation has been received effective control, and there are no abnormal phenomena occurring.3. Inferred from the monitoring data analyzed result, the slope deformation mainly caused by lower elevation slope excavation unloading. During the excavations, the displacement fast increased.
