The high power station plays a great role in a region grid or a state grid because of being a heavy source. Power system in our country is now developing towards large system and power grid. If there are maloperations in the high power station's protection equipments, the impacts maybe more serious than before. So it is necessary to do some research of improving the relay performance and reliability in a high power station .In the traditional protection scheme, different protection works according to each target and completes the whole task together. From the point view of a high power station's protection scheme, its main protection is rather mature and reasonable. But the backup protection is still made up of simple protections based on the traditional principle. Because of simple principle and less information, long action time it has.The protection using Agent technique is called Agent protection (Distributed Cooperative Protection). It can improve the protection reliability with the help of the cooperation among Agents, and make the protection-working mode more flexible; it can also simplify the software and hardware scheme.This paper studied in frame of the Agent protection(Distributed Cooperative Protection) for a high power station, proposed the structure of Agent protection , Architecture of a single relay Agent , the styles of network and the functions of all kinds of the Agent. Protection Agent can get more information in Agent protection; it can improve the whole performance of protection by making full use of the information.Agent protection can prevent the maloperation and accelerate the backup protection. The maloperation of this protection is not a common phenomenon. Although the Agent protection preserves the traditional protection principle, the cooperation among these Agents can improve the protection action. This paper brings forward the cooperation scheme of the line backup protection and differential protection of main transformer; this scheme can improve the performance of the protection. Agent protection can also improve the action speed of the backup protection; this paper puts forward the cooperation scheme of the backup protection of the generator and transformer; at the same time, the validity of this method is proved in the MATLAB.
